Meal planning
Meal planning is a great way to save money. Instead of going to the store and just buying random groceries you can save money buy making a list of what you are going to make for the week and only buying what you need. We buy some extras like green beans n corn, things you always have on hand but for the most part we plan our weekly meals and only buy what we need.
Another great way to save is to take inventory, this way you know
What you have and what you don't need to buy.
Make a list of what you are going to make and what you need to make it
You will also be pleased with the fact you don't have to try and think each night about what to make...you've already decided.

I totally agree! I can feed my family for much less by going through the cupboards and finding what I have ingredients to make and looking through the sale ads. We, of course, keep many staples on hand and like to stock up at Sam's Club when we can. I can often feed my family of five (three sons, husband and myself) for under $100 per week. It just takes planning! That does require more time initially but it always saves time in the long run. I can plan my crock-pot meal for the day I do my 12-hour shift and I already know what's for supper before I leave for work! Once in a while my husband even helps me out by getting things started!
